Chasing Monsters
Paired with the World Lit Topics course, Spring 2027
- Geneva
- Paris
- London
- Stratford-upon-Avon
- Whitby
- Loch Ness
- Edinburgh
Students will spend two weeks chasing the monsters they encounter through text and on screen in the accompanying World Lit Topics Spring 2027 course. Along the way, they will walk in the footsteps of some of the most famous monsters these places inspired: Frankenstein’s creature, Quasimodo, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Dracula, and Nessie.
As they encounter several of the most historically and culturally important sites in Europe, students will connect their work in class to real-life experiences and locations. In Paris, London, and Edinburgh there is also time for self-guided exploration, drawing on the expertise of our French liaison and their professors to find familiar and off-the-beaten-path attractions.
Cultural experiences include
- Admission to the Geneva city museum
- A boat tour on the Seine
- A play at the Globe or in Stratford
- A tour of the special collections at the British Library
- Tours of Stratford sites
- A ride on the Falkirk Wheel
- A tour of Urquhart Castle
