A 15-day journey through the history, religion, and popular culture of Japan: the urban jungle of Tokyo, where traditional and modern society exist side by side; Kyoto, Japan’s ancient capital; contemporary Hiroshima, rebuilt out of the destruction of World War II; and hikes in the mountain areas of Miyajima and Mt. Koya.
