About Engineering & Physics at SAU

SAU Engineering is housed in a dedicated, state of the art facility near a newly renovated dormitory reserved in part for science majors. Strong industry support since the program’s inception has offered students internships and job opportunities. This support has also translated into more than $400,000 in gifts and grants from industry partners to provide the program with the latest technologies and equipment so students enter the workforce with hands-on experience.

SAU Rocket Workshop reaches new heights at Magnolia Municipal Airport

Southern Arkansas University’s annual High-Powered Rocket Workshop sent student-built rockets into the sky at the Magnolia Municipal Airport, capping off a four-day program in rocket design, engineering and flight. Held in June, the workshop welcomed approximately 30 high school students, undergraduate students, teachers, and college faculty members from across Arkansas.

SAU Engineering hosts concurrent course with Caddo Hills High School

The Engineering Department at Southern Arkansas University has launched a new concurrent course with Caddo Hills High School, marking the first program of its kind in the region. The class, Fundamentals of Manufacturing, allows high school students to earn college credit while developing practical skills for careers in the manufacturing
