The Mulerider Transfer and Community College Scholarships are now closed for Fall 2026. Check back for future semester openings.
Scholarships are limited and awarded on a competitive basis to students who complete the full application. Selection is based on overall academic achievement and community involvement — the scholarship committee will review applications and select recipients. You will receive an award letter if selected.

Eligibility Requirements
Academic Standards
- 3.0 cumulative GPA or better on a 4.0 scale for all college work
- At least 48 transferable credits — majority from a community college; last enrollment must have been at a community college
- Not available for students transferring from a four-year institution
Enrollment Requirement
- Recipients must enroll in 15 credit hours at Southern Arkansas University
- Students who enroll part-time are not eligible
Preferred Transfer Institutions
Preference is given to students whose most recent enrollment was at a community college in Arkansas, or at one of the following:
- Bossier Parish Community College
- Texarkana College
- Panola College
- Paris Junior College
- Northeast Texas Community College
How to Apply — April 15 Deadline
Submit all required materials by April 15. Students who meet eligibility criteria must complete every step below.
- Complete the Transfer Scholarship application online (see application below).
- Complete an Application for Admission to Southern Arkansas University.
- A copy of your current course enrollment (if applicable).
- To complete your application, you must send up-to-date transcripts from ALL colleges that you have attended to the SAU Office of Admissions. Please send the most complete transcripts that you have if you are presently enrolled at a community college. If presently enrolled, final transcripts should then be sent as soon as your current semester grades are posted. Final transcripts should then be sent when the current semester is completed.
Award & Renewal
$3,000
Per semester, up to 4 semestersMaximum award of $12,000 over your time at SAU
Renewal Requirements
The scholarship renews each semester when recipients meet both of the following:
- Complete at least 15 credit hours per semester on the SAU Magnolia campus
- Maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA or better
Fall Only: Transfer scholarships are awarded beginning Fall semesters only. Applications for Spring or Summer enrollment are not accepted.
