Mrs. Mickey has served as Assistant Director of Bands since the Fall of 1998. She is an instructor of Woodwinds at Southern Arkansas University, where she conducts the University Band and woodwind ensembles. In the music division of the Performing Arts Department, she teaches clarinet lessons and numerous music courses, including Fundamentals of Music Theory, Woodwind Methods, Intro to Music, and History of Rock Music.

Mrs. Mickey has taught elementary music, music appreciation, and junior high and senior high instrumental music in Arkansas and Louisiana. In 1998, her band received a superior rating at the Louisiana District I Concert Band Festival. She is a member of Tau Beta Sigma and is an honorary brother of the Delta Chi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi.
