Educational Background
Dr. C. Neelie Dobbins is Dean of the College of Education and Human Performance at Southern Arkansas University and a recipient of the SAU Honor Professor Award. A people-first leader, she believes leadership at its core is about creating the conditions for others to do their best work, and she measures success not by personal accomplishment but by the strength of the people and programs she supports. She began her career as a secondary mathematics teacher and later served as a state math specialist before joining SAU, where she has spent more than 15 years building programs, mentoring faculty, and championing students.
Dr. Dobbins is driven by a simple belief that strong academic programs and partnerships shape the future of our region, and that every program in the college contributes to the same goal of preparing professionals who strengthen communities. Across her career, she has led significant program growth, secured major grant funding to support innovation, and built lasting partnerships across the state. A nationally recognized accreditation expert, she has guided successful national reviews and serves as a lead reviewer for multiple accreditors. Through it all, her approach has stayed the same: listen first, build solutions together, and put people at the center.
