W.T. Watson Athletic Center, completed in 1998, is a brick, tile, and concrete facility. It houses a fully equipped wellness and fitness center, a gymnasium seating approximately 1,750, an auxiliary gymnasium, an athletic training facility, a physical therapy center, a dance studio, shower and locker rooms, and faculty offices and classrooms for the Department of Human Performance and Sport Sciences. The building also offers an exercise science lab, also known as the Kinesiology Laboratory. The Kinesiology Laboratory is equipped with a 12-lead EKG system, mechanically braked cycle ergometers, programmable treadmills, and other equipment used for physical fitness assessments. The lab is also equipped with a range of analyzers, and students are taught to conduct various tests and assessments. Students can also choose to be involved in ongoing exercise-related research projects.
