The facility consists of a 78,000 square foot covered rodeo-style arena with a dirt floor and seating for approximately 1,400. There is also an adjacent 7,500 square foot reception area that sits in front of the arena. The reception area includes:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"sau-list\" id=\"rodeo\">\n<li>Ticket booth<\/li>\n<li>Concession stand<\/li>\n<li>The office<\/li>\n<li>Meeting\/conference room<\/li>\n<li>Men\u2019s and women\u2019s restrooms<\/li>\n<li>A grilling porch<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>About the Story Arena<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saumag.edu\/story-arena\/files\/2014\/03\/StoryCheckPass2010-for-web.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-26\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saumag.edu\/story-arena\/files\/2014\/03\/StoryCheckPass2010-for-web-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"StoryCheckPass2010-for-web\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>The construction of the rodeo arena was a part of the Blue and Gold Vision, the University\u2019s first capital campaign to raise more than $100 million. The arena itself was made possible by the generous $2 million gift from Magnolia residents Therral and Jan Story, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saumag.edu\/news\/2010\/04\/15\/sau-receives-2-million-gift-from-magnolia-couple\/\">the largest single-donor gift in SAU\u2019s long history<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The arena is home to Southern Arkansas University\u2019s nationally competitive collegiate rode team, providing a place where members can practice rain or shine, as well as providing the opportunity for the SAU rodeo team to host annual rodeo events.<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Check out our Facebook page to keep up with the latest news, flyers and chances to win free tickets to our events.
