The University will be closed for the holidays and for the vacation days indicated below in 2026-2027. Please note that this is the same number of holidays that other employees of the state receive, but some are observed at different times. These holidays are for twelve-month faculty and staff and denote the official closing of the University. Nine-month faculty and staff generally follow the academic calendar.<\/p>\n

Dr. Hicks has approved revised hours for the two weeks between Spring and Summer I.<\/strong>
\nMay 11 to May 14, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Closed Friday, May 15
\nMay 18 to May 21, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Closed Friday, May 22.<\/div>\n
Dr. Hicks and the Vice Presidents wish to express our appreciation for all of the dedication and hard work this past year.<\/div>\n
Memorial Day, May 25, SAU Closed<\/strong>

Independence Day<\/strong><\/td>\nClosed Monday, July 6, 2026.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Labor Day<\/strong><\/td>\nClosed Monday, September 7, 2026.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Fall Break<\/strong><\/td>\nSAU hours will be 8:00 to 5:00, Monday through Wednesday, October 5-October 7, 2026. SAU will be closed October 8-9.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Thanksgiving Week<\/strong><\/td>\nMonday and Tuesday, November 23 and 24, 2026, will be remote work days.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Thanksgiving Break<\/strong><\/td>\nClosed Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. November 25, 26, and 27.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Christmas\/New Year’s Break<\/strong><\/td>\nDecember 14-17, SAU hours will be 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Closed Thursday, December 17, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. until Monday, January 4, 2027. This includes 8 hours of mandatory annual leave.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Martin Luther King Jr. Day<\/strong><\/td>\nMonday, January 18, 2027. The University is open (this holiday is observed during the Christmas\/New Year’s Break). Classes will not meet. <\/strong>See note 2 below.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Spring Break<\/strong><\/td>\nMarch 22-25, 2027. Spring Break. SAU hours 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Closed Friday, March 26, 2027.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Memorial Day<\/strong><\/td>\nClosed Monday, May 31, 2027.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n

  1. Holidays observed by staff during the Christmas\/New Year’s break are: Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, George Washington’s Birthday\/Daisy Gaston Bates Day, Veterans’ Day, and Employee’s Birthday. This year includes two SAU Holidays and 8<\/strong> hours of mandatory annual leave.<\/li>\n
  2. Classes will not meet on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The students and faculty will have the day off.<\/strong> A survey of the staff indicated that an overwhelming majority wished to continue observing Dr. King’s birthday during the Christmas\/New Year’s break; therefore, the University will remain open. Supervisors will make every effort to allow any staff member to take a day of annual leave if they prefer.
