A former classroom teacher, high school administrator, and university administrator, Dr. Kate Borsig holds bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degrees in Education from Mississippi University for Women and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from Mississippi State University. She has authored two graduate textbook chapters, published in educational journals, and served as editor or reviewer for several national publications. A frequent speaker at state and national professional meetings, Dr. Borsig has conducted four presentations for the U.S. Department of Education. She served as project director and principal investigator for numerous federal, state, and foundation grant-funded initiatives and research studies. Her research interests include emotional intelligence, leadership, and teacher professional development. Educational research design, gifted education, leadership and change theory, program evaluation, and curriculum development are other areas of expertise.<\/p>\n
In 2001, Dr. Borsig submitted her first grant proposal seeking funding for a social action project for her middle school students. Since that time, she has developed over one hundred proposals and had in excess of $35 million in project funding awarded, benefiting universities, K-12 schools, and non-profit organizations. For 15 years, she served in various administrative roles at Mississippi University for Women, most recently as Director of Outreach and Innovation, where she oversaw multiple departments, including the Center for Creative Learning, Continuing Education, Professional Learning Academy, Center for Women\u2019s Entrepreneurship, Life Enrichment Program, and the Mississippi Governor\u2019s School.
