How will my students benefit from working one to one with a peer consultant?

Should I require my students to come to the Writing Center?

While any instructor could require students to visit or use our facility, our collective experience has been that this sometimes leads the students to feel less than involved in the process or even to be inactive or hostile.  We suggest that instructors do whatever they feel best benefits their class and their students, but students who receive encouragement, support, incentives, or even credit for coming to the Writing Center are often more motivated to work on their writing.

I sent my student to the Writing Center, and he told me that the tutor didn't help (or the tutor said the paper was fine, or the tutor wouldn't fix the paper, etc).
I sent my student to the Writing Center, and her paper isn't any better.

We can provide you information about the student's conference.
