2000-01 ANNUAL REPORT
Reported by Dr. Shannin Schroeder, Director, SAU Writing Center
Thanks to the support of SAU faculty, students, and staff, the SAU Writing Center made quite an impact in its first year on campus. We held 386 conferences (271 hours and 54 minutes contact time) with 193 clients, 77 of whom accounted for 192 repeat conferences. We served students in 36 courses—in Liberal and Performing Arts, Science and Technology, and the School of Education—taught by 40 instructors. Statistics from these conferences, as provided by both students and consultants, are listed below.

Without our first-time writing consultants—Jamie Coker, Tammy Dulaney, Josh Dunkeson, Kaine Ezell, Rebecca Hughes, and Janet Street—our success and growth would not have been possible.
I hope that you will continue to encourage your faculty to recommend that all of their students use the Writing Center. Because the center’s mission is to work with any writer at any stage of the writing process, we hope to foster the continuing development of writing across the curriculum here at SAU. We believe the SAU Writing Center’s services prove a benefit both to student writers and to the instructors whose courses they are taking.
If you have any questions about our data collection, the statistics listed above, or any other aspect of the Writing Center, please do not hesitate to contact me at x4211 or smschroeder@saumag.edu. Thank you!
