Papers will be at least 15 pages in length, no more than 20. You will follow guidelines of the "Chicago Style" (footnotes, bibliography, etc. Here is a helpful link:

http://library.osu.edu/sites/guides/chicagogd.html

You may have no more than one page of illustrations, preferably in color, which may count as one of the 15 pages. Your cover sheet and bibliography page DO NOT count as one of the 15 pages. Font size is to be no larger than 12 pts. in the Times or Times Roman typeface. Typing will be double-spaced. The first page is cover page. The cover page includes your title, your name, my name, and the date-nothing else. Your introduction should include exactly what your paper is going to about (topic sentence).   If your paper is not a comparison of two works of art based on your own observations, it WILL NOT BE GRADED!

The last page is your works cited, or bibliography page. You will use a minimum of 6 separate sources. At least five of your sources must be hard copies (books, manuscripts, articles). The others may be electronic (internet). You may use more than six sources. Your final paper should be turned in bound in a clear plastic folder -- no staples.   You must cite all of your referenced material.   Any unacknowledged inclusions in your paper will be considered plagiarized.   By the same token, DO NOT ADD A FOOTNOTE OR CITATION TO EVERY SINGLE SENTENCE IN YOUR PAPER!   When you do this, you are not providing any of your original thinking, which is primarily what I am interested in.   Do not write more than a paragraph or two about the artist's biographical information, unless it has a direct influence on the appearance of the art.
