25th Assignment Psychological effects of color PART 1: Create a composition of your choice using a color scheme to convey a clear sense of emotion. Use acrylic paint. Final compositional size will be 10" x 12", mounted with 1" border. Again, neatness counts! Final size will be 12" x 14" (horizontal.) You may choose the color that best suits the emotion you wish to express, but it must be a clear portrayal of an emotion. Subject matter and style are up to you, but are also crucial in communicating a feeling. You may use a monochromatic color scheme if you wish. There should be a single dominant color that or pair of colors that clearly communicates your emotion. Due Monday. Some examples from the history of art
Picasso's "Old Guitarist uses blue to communicate sadness, depression. Van Gogh's use of yellow (he called it "the color of God") here communicates warmth and happiness. Ernst Kirchner uses garish contrasts to communicate a feeling of loneliness and isolation with a crowded city street. Goya's use of black with red highlights here communicates a feeling of fear, evil and repulsion. PART 2: Create an additional painting that communicates the OPPOSITE of the emotion you expressed in the first one. Due Wednesday - same specifications. Previous SAU Student Examples:
