D.E. Shaw was born in 1934 in Boston, Massachusetts and now lives in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

Artist statement:
"I work daily to uncover the language (visual) I feel around me in this world. As I uncover it and respond, the world changes and the process continues. I respond to the architecture of time as nature presents it to us. The forms, surfaces and light my works evoke are the corporal result of this personal dialogue made public. The work deals with essence and balances. My hope is that the viewer will join me in the mind dance that is around us and see the work as a kind of lens focusing chaos with order. This is the nature of my work. Its one true significance is, simply, that it is done."
