Thomas M. Hinton

Thomas M. Hinton was born in 1906 in Texarkana, Arkansas. His early education was in the Texarkana public schools and the University of Arkansas. He later attended the American Academy and the Art Student;s League od New York. He received a Bachelor in Fine Arts Degree from the Art Institute in Chicago.

Mr. Hinton worked with numerous painters including Charles Hawthorne, Elmer Forsberg, Wellington Reynolds, George Obersteuffer and Eliot O'Hara.

Thomas exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, The Corcoran Gallery and the National Gallery. His work was included in exhibits throughout the Southwest. His work is in the the Arkansas State Capital Building, University of Arkansas and the Franklin D. Roosevelt Collections.

Hinton was instrumental in setting up instruction programs for handicapped children as an instructor in the arts and counselor in the Texarkana area. He was a founder of the Hoover Watercolor Society in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was also a founder of the Texarkana Art League and the Four States Regional Art Club in Texarkana. His works were featured in a retrospective at the R.S. Barnwell Arts Center in Shreveport Louisiana.
