Whit Connah
Whit Connah was born in Newton, Pennsylvania in 1944. He lived in Arkansas from 1975-85, but now resides in Cincinnati. He is the Associate Professor of Fine Arts University of Cincinnati School of Art, Area Coordinator for the Fine Arts Drawing Program. Earned his MFA at the University of Cincinnati in 1975; has taught at the Art Academy of Cincinnati and the University of Arkansas. Major Commissions include murals for the Montreux Atlanta International Music Festival, and the Bureau for Cultural Affairs in Atlanta, Georgia, 1992. Group exhibitions include Innervision, at the National Afro-american Museum and Cultural Center, Wilberforce, Ohio. 1998; Cincinnati-Kharkiv invitational, Kharkiv Museum, Ukraine, 1993; 30th Aniversary Group Show, Phoenix Gallery, New York, and Contemporary Arkansas Artists, Metropolitan Life Gallery, New York, 1988. His work is held in various public and private collections, including the Rose Law Firm, Little Rock, Arkansas. His drawing has been published in "American Abstract Drawing, 1930-1987" Arkansas Art Center, 1988; "Drawing, a Contemporary Approach" by Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, 1992. Recent Honors include the Image Maker Award, from Applause Magazine, and the Archibald Motley Award for Outstanding Contributions in the Visual Arts, from Mallory Center for Community Development, Cincinnati, Ohio.
