Application       

          Who  Can Apply?

                  Any student attending one of the target high schools is eligible to

          apply to the SAU Upward Bound Program. Students with an interest in

          postsecondary success are especially encouraged to apply.

        Additionally, An Upward Bound Applicant:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen

  • Must be entering their freshman year in high school and at least 14 years of age at the time of application

  • Must have college potential but need academic support to be successful in college

       Most students must qualify in both of the following areas, although a few students may be accepted who only meet one of the following:

       --Low-income (guideline set forth by the federal government)

       --First generation college student (i.e., no natural or

         adoptive parent living in the home has a four-year college

         degree)

 

       In addition to the above criteria, admission to the Southern Arkansas University Upward Bound Program is based on student grades and counselor and teacher recommendations.
