Vice President for Student Affairs
Southern Arkansas University subscribes to the tenet that the educational
experience of students consists of both academic efforts in the classroom and
co-curricular opportunities through student services on and about the campus and
the community in which the students interact. The Southern Arkansas University
division of student affairs strives to be purposeful and coherent, based on or
related to theories and knowledge of human development and learning
characteristics, and reflective of the demographic and developmental profiles of
the Southern Arkansas University student body.
The programs and services within the division of student affairs become part
of a continuing growth experience which promote student development by
encouraging positive, realistic self-appraisal, intellectual development,
appropriate personal and occupational choices, clarification of values, physical
fitness and wellness, the ability to relate meaningfully with others, the
capacity to engage in a personally satisfying and effective style of living, to
understand leadership in order to work interdependently and independently.
The Southern Arkansas University division of student affairs is

Dr. Donna
Allen has been at Southern Arkansas University for 16 years. She has served as
the director of the Counseling & Testing Center, associate professor of
education in counseling, and as graduate dean prior to her position as vice
president for student affairs. The vice president for student affairs is also
the retention coordinator for the University.
