Call For Papers

The Arkansas Archeological Survey and Southern Arkansas University are pleased to announce the 49th Caddo Conference to be held in the new Reynolds Center on the campus of Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Arkansas--located deep in the beautiful pine forest of southwestern Arkansas and in the original heartland of the Caddo.

Papers are invited on the archeology, history and culture of he Caddo Indians and the area of the Caddo homelands in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas and Oklahoma.  The Caddo Conference events will take place on the campus of Southern Arkansas University. Paper sessions and vender/exhibit tables will be in the Don W. Reynolds Campus and Community Center (see map below).

Registration Information
            The registration fee for the conference is $20 before February 15th and $25 thereafter (reduced to $15.00 for students with ID).  Please pre-register by February 15th by returning the registration form on the bottom of the first page of this PDF.


Hotel Information
            A block of rooms has been reserved for Caddo Conference participants at the Best Western Coachman’s Inn (420 E Main St, Magnolia, AR (870) 234-6122), with a conference hotel room rate of $59 per night plus tax with a free continental breakfast.  You must make your reservations before February 15th in order to get the conference rate.  Other nearby hotels in Magnolia include the Quality Inn (across the street from the Best Western at 411 East Main St., Magnolia, AR (870) 234-3612), and the new Holiday Inn Express & Suites (1604 East Main, Magnolia, Arkansas (870) 234-5161).

Thursday: March 15, 2007: afternoon - evening - early registration.

Friday, March 16, 2007: 8:30 am - noon - conference registration, welcomes, and paper presentations; 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm - paper presentations; evening - reception and open house.

Saturday, March 17, 2007: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm - paper presentations and business meeting. 5:30 or 6:00 pm dancing by the Caddo Culture Club and the Hasini Society.

Sunday, March 18, 2007: 9:00 am - whenever - field trip to tow legendary Caddo sites--Crenshaw and Battle Mounds.
