Magnolia, Ark.— The Emerson Lady Pirates improved their record to 14-1 with a 30-18 win over the Parkers Chapel Lady Trojans in the Southern Arkansas University girl’s basketball tournament Thursday night.
Sharhonda Carrington led the Lady Pirates with 10 points hitting four from the field and 2-of-5 from the charity stripe. Staci Cooper added eight points with Brittany Higdon contributing six to round out the scoring leaders.
Tawny Laymon had a team-high eight points for Parkers Chapel followed by Amanda Swilly adding five, Lauren Sideroff three and Brooke Pittman two to close the scoring.
The Lady Trojans dropped to 8-5 on the season as Emerson advances to play Friday at 7:10pm in the W.T. Watson Athletic Center against Arkadelphia.
