Magnolia, Ark.— Emerson’s Lady Pirates took the lead for good over Arkadelphia with 2:10 remaining in the first half to move into the finals of the Southern Arkansas University girl’s basketball tournament Friday night by a score of 45-33.
Sharhonda Carrington led the Lady Pirates with 13 points going 6-of-7 from the field and pulling down a team-high six rebounds. Staci Cooper added 12 points and four rebounds with Chelsea Glover contributing 10 points to round out the scoring leaders.
Jill Weiser and Heather Martin paced the Lady Badgers with six points apiece followed by Telisha Hill and Kareoha Taylor adding five. Martin led Arkadelphia in rebounds with four.
The Lady Badgers dropped to 2-1 on the season as Emerson advances to play Saturday in the finals at 6:30pm. against Union at the W.T. Watson Athletic Center.
