Riderettes Close Season With A Loss
Magnolia,
AR—The Southern Arkansas University Riderette volleyball team concluded their
2000 season Sunday night as the celebrated Senior Night prior to a loss to
Christian Brothers University, their final conference opponent. The Riderettes end their season at the W.T.
Watson Athletic Center with an 11-24 overall and 3-9 Gulf South Conference
record. The Lady Bucs, who finished
their regular season at 13-15 and 5-7 in the GSC, beat the Riderettes 7-15,
15-10, 15-13, 15-5.
SAU
dominated the first game of the match as CBU was the dominate force in the
fourth. In the first game the
Riderettes had an attacking percentage of .357 to the Buccaneers .083. The next two matches were close as CBU
pulled out with the close victory. In
the third, the Riderettes had CBU down with a 13-4 lead but after numerous
side-outs between the two, the Lady Bucs shut SAU down for the victory. The final game belonged to CBU as the team
accumulated 12 kills, 33 total attacks and no errors.
Leaders
for the Riderettes in kills were Brooke Barnett and Michelle Sullivan. Barnett had 18 kills and 56 total attacks
with a service ace, a solo block and 10 digs.
Sullivan tallied up 13 kills and 36 total attacks along with 4 assisted
blocks. Meredith Meyer, Brooke Bowling,
and Jennifer Biegel each added 15 digs to the teams total of 88, one more than
that of CBU.
For the Buccaneers, Jenn Rockwell piled up 42 total attacks and 10 kills along with 22 digs to lead CBU. Ashley Hollis and Tina Finnie added seven kills a piece and Danielle Guerre chalked up 36 assists and 12 digs as Andi Roettger added 12 digs and seven kills.
