Southern Arkansas Golfers Play In Tournament

 

            Danville, Ark.-In an 11-team golf tournament scheduled for Monday and Tuesday at Chamberlyne Country Club here, host Arkansas Tech University led after the first day of play. Southern Arkansas University was eighth.

            ATU shot 289 to pace the field with Delta State University second 10 strokes behind at 299. Henderson State University was a close third with 301 with Ouachita Baptist University on their heels with 302 and fourth. The University of Central Arkansas was fifth with 304, Drury University (Missouri) sixth with 308, Southwestern Oklahoma State University seventh with 314, SAU eighth with 324, Harding University ninth with 326, Christian Brothers University 10th with 327 and the University of Arkansas-Monticello trailing the field in 11th place with a 352.

            Brent Wilson of ATU was first with 35-34 scores for a three under par 69. Jay Hale of DSU was second with 36-35 for a 71 and Luke Lang of ATU, Jeff Maneth of OBU, Dustin Byrd of ATU and Joakin Hilton of DSU tied for third with 73.

            No Mulerider golfer placed in the top 20 individual finishers. Leonard Biddle and Clay Sullivan paced SAU with 80’s, Matt Hubbard shot an 81, Adam Hamilton 83 and Justin Collins 85.
