SAU’s Lewis Makes AP Little All-America

Magnolia, Ark.-Nik Lewis of Southern Arkansas University, earlier named first-team D2Football.com All-America, has earned second-team Associated Press Little All-America honors.

Lewis, a 5-10, 190-pound junior wide receiver from Jacksboro, Tex., was also a first-team All-Gulf South Conference selection and a first-team Daktronics All-South Region choice.

Lewis set four new school records and tied another last fall. He was one of only four players from the GSC to be honored on the first three teams picked by the AP. Offensive lineman Chris Booker of Delta State (Clarendon, Ark.) was selected on the first team and defensive lineman Tommy Edwards of Arkansas Tech, defensive back Marquis Floyd of West Georgia and Lewis were members of the second team.

GSC champion Valdosta State, ranked second nationally and unbeaten until they were nipped in the final moments on a field goal in the national championship game by number-one Grand Valley (Mich.) State 31-28, placed none on the three teams. Grand Valley had three on the first-team offense and another on the second-team defense.
