Admission Selection

Students who meet application requirements will be selected for entry into the nursing program based on grade point average in Nursing Curriculum Support Courses (NCSC), a priority toward completed College Algebra and Chemistry courses at the time of application, and results of the HESI-Admission Assessment Exam. The order of admission into the program for applications postmarked no later than February 28 (Fall semester nursing class) and no later than September 30 (Spring semester nursing class) will be as follows:

  1. Students will be initially ranked by grade point average in the NCSC and completion status of College Algebra and Chemistry, and results of the HESI-Admission Assessment Exam.
  2. If more than one student has the same grade point average in the NCSC, completion status of College Algebra and Chemistry, and HESI-Admission Assessment Exam score, these students will be ranked by total quality points in the NCSCs.
  3. If more than one student has the same grade point average in the NCSC, completion status of College Algebra and Chemistry, HESI-Admission Assessment Exam score, and number of total quality points, students will be randomly ranked.

Students who are not initially selected or who submit an application after February 28 (Fall semester nursing class) or September 30 (Spring semester nursing class) will be placed on a waiting list. Placement on the waiting list will be in order of grade point average in the NCSCs and quality points. Spaces which become available prior to the beginning of the fall or spring semester will be filled from the waiting list. The waiting list will not carry over to the next semester; students not selected for admission must reapply each application period. The application deadlines are September 30 for the Spring semester nursing class and February 28 for the Fall semester nursing class.
