Alpha Psi Omega
The Department of Theatre and Mass Communication encourages active
participation in student organizations such as Alpha Psi Omega, the National
Dramatic Honor Fraternity. This organization not only gives recognition to good
scholarship, it also promotes a high standard of professionalism in dramatics,
furthers leadership skills, and establishes a valuable network of colleagues in
the area of stage, screen, television, and radio.
Special Services and Opportunities
Each semester the department produces two major shows.
Theatre majors are encourages to participate in all theatre productions in order
to broaden their horizons and expand their technical skills both on stage and
backstage. In the fall the department attends the American College Theatre
Festival, which showcases theatre activities from all across the state of
Arkansas. The festival is usually a four or five day event consisting of
eight to ten competing production plus critiques and workshops. Over the
years SAU theatre has gained a reputation for excellence with its theatre
productions in festival competition.
