English & Foreign Language Department Scholarships
In addition to many other university scholarships, English and Foreign
Languages majors and minors may apply for the following scholarships.
Liberal and Performing Arts Scholarships (5 awards)
Southern Arkansas University annually awards one-year departmental
scholarships to undergraduate students currently enrolled. The scholarships
cover resident tuition for the fall and spring semesters. The five awards
available in Liberal and Performing Arts are available to students in the
following departments: Art, Behavioral and Social Science, English and Foreign
Languages, History and Political Science, Theatre and Mass Communication.
Criteria:
- Have attended SAU, Magnolia, for at least two semesters and have
sophomore, junior, or senior standing
- Not have a baccalaureate degree
- Have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.00
- Have a declared major in the department from which the scholarship is
sought and, if awarded, continue in that major for the duration of the
scholarship
- Not be receiving an SAU academic scholarship concurrently with the
departmental scholarship, should it be awarded.
Students should apply in the office of the Dean of the School of Liberal and
Performing Arts before April 15
Dr. Betty Unger Blue Scholarship
Funds provided by Mr. and Mrs. Thomas R. Blue. Preference shall be given to
Spanish majors or minors.
Gisèle E. Gernigon Souter Scholarship
Funds provided by Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Souter. Preference shall be given to
students with minors in French.
