Compressed Interactive Video Cou
Compressed Interactive Video Course Information
SAU delivers both undergraduate and graduate courses throughout the state of
Arkansas using Compressed Interactive Video (CIV). Using this technology,
instructors are able to communicate with their students in real time, simulating
the traditional face-to-face classroom environment. Students, who, in the past,
were not able to continue with their education because of jobs, distance, and
family responsibilities, can now join with other similar students across the
state to share life experiences and the rewards of life long learning.
Compressed Interactive Video uses high tech video equipment and dedicated
telecommunication circuits to generate and transport two way interactive video
and audio. Interactive video closely resembles the traditional interaction found
in a face-to-face classroom environment. Compressed Interactive Video systems
allow for the use of teaching tools used in the traditional classrooms.
Educators can use computer generated slide presentations, overhead
transparencies, and videotapes.
