College of Education Admissions

Undergraduate

Undergraduate students who are interested in a teacher education program must make application for admission to the College of Education, generally during the second semester of the sophomore year. General admission requirements consist of the following:

  • Completion of at least forty-two semester hours
  • Grade point average of 2.5 or higher
  • Passing the Pre-Professional Skills Test
  • Grade of C in all required field courses, English and math courses

Candidates must complete an application for admission to the undergraduate program in the College of Education. Applications are available on this website or through the College of Education, Admissions, Field Experience and Licensure Office.

Transfer Students: Students who transfer to the university from two year community or junior colleges must meet the requirements listed above to pursue an undergraduate major in the College of Education.

Graduate

General Admission

Students who are interested in a graduate program must apply for admission to the School of Graduate Studies as well as meet the requirements for admission to a particular program in the College of Education. Application to the School of Graduate Studies requires the following:

  • Graduate Application Form
  • Official Undergraduate Transcripts
  • Official Graduate Transcripts
  • Graduate Entrance Examinations

For specific information about the criteria for admission, review the School of Graduate Studies website or contact the school’s office.

College Admission

General admission to Graduate Studies does not constitute admission to individual programs within the College. Each program may have additional admissions requirements and different criteria for admission. If you are interested in a particular program, search this website or review the current Graduate Catalog which is available online or from the School of Graduate Studies.

Financial Aid

Contact the Financial Aid Office at 870-235-4023 for general aid or the availability of Graduate Assistantships.
