Collaborative Videoconferencing
Collaborative videoconferencing is more than just interactive video.  It is the use of a variety of telecommunications technologies to connect teachers, learners, and content, and to foster collaboration across geographic distances and time.

The goal of the program is to provide educators with the skills and strategies to collaborate effectively across distances using videoconferencing and other technologies.

Who Should Participate?

Higher Education Faculty
The program is designed for faculty, trainers, and instructors who
want to use a variety of telecommunications technologies to connect teachers, learners, and content across geographic distances.

Public School Teachers, Technology Coordinators, Administrators
This program is designed for teachers, technology coordinators, and administrators who want to use a variety of telecommunications technologies to connect teachers, learners, and content across geographic distances.

Program
Training topics include:
  • Interactive Videoconferencing - Getting acquainted with the basic equipment and operations of interactive video in order to facilitate videoconferences.

  • Interactive Strategies - Adapting materials and management techniques to a distance learning environment.  Strategies include addressing different learning styles, and improving communication and collaboration using combination of technologies.

  • Presentation Techniques - Strategies for making the most of personal presence during a videoconference, such as effective speaking, gestures, pacing a presentation, and appearance.

  • Classroom Presentations - Designing and developing presentations for distance learning environments using multimedia and other delivery modalities.

  • Online Course Development - Gaining skills and strategies for using an intranet and adapting course materials for the Web to support collaborative videoconferencing.

  • Emerging Issues - Understanding emerging issues, such as copyright, scheduling, assessment, and the changing responsibilities of educators in a distance learning environment.

Continuing Education and/or Professional Development Credit

Certificates of program certification from the Learning Technologies Partnership will be awarded for completion of the course. This program was developed in cooperation with Southern Arkansas University and the Center for Distance Learning Research at Texas A&M University. Participants may choose to receive continuing education units and/or *professional development credit. (*Note: Professional development credit should be arranged through your employer/school.)

Cost

Collaborative Videoconferencing is an extensive learning experience. The cost for the program is $650 per person. Class size is limited to 20 participants. For persons registering early, the registration fee is $600.
